⇨ Enhanced School Experience (Primary) II
The second day of school experience. Well, I relieved all the classes which I was supposed to observe, and I went into the P4 class for the first period. The P4 class was noisy, unattentive, talking.. all the stuff showing that they are not interested in the lesson, or isn't paying attention to me, cause i'm new in the school. I tried to be nice, asking them to keep quiet on several occasions, and when failing to do so.. I ignored the chatter and continued teaching the all new topic, for I figured it'll be their loss if they don't learn, and not mine. But after 15-20 minutes, the students were still talking and showed no signs of quieting down, and in fact became louder. So I burst. A mild one. Was teaching the verb "讨论", and I noticed that the group of three girls were chitchatting very loudly. So I looked (stared at them), and said in a very cold tone, "你们在讨论什么?" After that sentence, the whole class quiet down immediately, as in deadly silence, for they could sense that the storm was brewing, and the atmosphere was tense, so I tried to lighten the mood."你们在讨论什么? 所以呢。。 这就是用‘讨论’造的句子。有谁可以用讨论来造一个新的句子呢?" Only then was the mood lightened up, and they only resumed the noisiness 10 minutes later. Once again, the group of three girls were the noise contributer, and so I pin-pointed out the leader of the group."你很像有很多想法,要和我们分享吗?" *girl shakes head with the very scared expression* class quiet down once again."刚刚我教了‘激动’这个词语,现在你帮我用这个词语造造句。" girl mutters, stunned for a minute, before squeezing out..."妈妈看到弟弟跌倒很激动。" "不对!刚刚我说过激动不能这么用,你用听课吗?有谁可以帮我造一个新的词语?" okie I admit, I said that sentence purposely, well... I'll try to tone down next time. =P But yes... I was super tired after that 40-minutes lesson, and then I went back to the staffroom to rest, and complained to the other trainee teacher that about the class. I was feeling so depressed after the single 40-minutes P4 class, and didn't feel like relief-teaching the 2 40-minutes P2 class . BUT LUCKILY, the cute P2 class didn't disappoint me. They kept "黄老师"here, and "黄老师"there, all vying for attention, and asking for permission for everything they do. SO POLITE! “黄老师,黄老师!我可以喝水吗?” “黄老师!我可以去上厕所吗?” “黄老师,我可以削铅笔吗?” “黄老师! 你可以让我们玩游戏吗?” “黄老师!方老师在那里?” “黄老师!黄老师!你今天教我们啊?” “黄老师!要写笔记吗?” “黄老师!他用rubber打我!你快点骂他!” “黄老师!黄老师!我的铅笔不见了!怎么办???” “黄老师!方老师after recess 会回来教我们吗?” and the list goes on... and on.. and on.. That 2 40-minutes period, I was teaching them the word “足”,and I drew a stick man, pointed to the leg, labelled them “足”, to show them specifically what it is. something similar and the whole class started laughing out loud, and was so interested. literally. They started saying.. “黄老师,那个人没有穿衣服!” *giggles* “黄老师,人要穿衣服的!!” and so I edited the stick man, and it became like that... stick man with shirt and shirt. and the WHOLE THING started again! “黄老师,那个人没有头发!很丑!!” so I added the hair in. “黄老师,没有眼睛!” “黄老师,鼻子不在!” “老师!嘴巴啦!” i gave up.. and the final product looks like this... “黄老师,她没有鞋子!” “黄老师,她没有袜子!” (袜子在鞋子里。。。) “黄老师,那个人为什么没有neck(颈项)?” To involve them, I asked them to come up to the board to draw their version of the girl, and “足”. When I asked for volunteers, I only expected maybe 2 or 3 students, but approx. 3/4 students raised up their hands. It's like in “百万小学堂”,with students all doing the “选我!选我!” stun.. I chose 5 students to go up to the board to draw, and asked the rest to vote on the nicest one. I was cheeky enough to ask them to vote on mine too... “你们喜欢我的画画吗?有谁觉得我的最美?” one hand.... two hand..... three, four, five, six... almost all raised up their hands. =D THEY ARE SO diabetic-ly SWEET! Then I released them for recess. Before going off, one girl came up to me.. Girl: “黄老师,黄老师!等一下after recess你会来教我们吗?” Me: “应该会吧。” Girl: “YEAH!!!!!” *runs off* That made my day. For they are appreciate of the things that I did, and are JUST SO CUTE! *squeeze and cuddles.* =DDDDDDDDDDDD
